Complete 2016 LMSRF Area III Racing Schedule

Below are the regattas that CCYC hosts every year in chronological order from spring to fall (click on the regatta title to see more information):

  • Rossberger Memorial Regatta - Spring Opener

      CCYC opens it's racing season with the Rossberger Regatta Weekend -- two days of
      sailing that kicks off with our Edwin Reinholtzen Spring Opener, the first competitive
      Area III regatta on the Lake.

      Shake off the cobwebs of winter with our traditional buoy race, or the 2nd Annual long
      distance course featuring in-port courses from 14-23 nm.

      Saturday night, come out for the Spring Opener Party featuring a cash bar, live music
      and BBQ on the Patio. Enjoy the best view of downtown, and the newly redecorated
      CCYC.  BBQ starts at 5:30pm followed by music from The Kinsey Report at 6:30pm

      Created to honor Past Commodore Bill Rossberger, the overall winner of Saturday's
      Spring Opener & The Olympic Cup Regatta (following on Sunday) will be inscribed on
      the Rossberger Trophy, which remains on display at CCYC.

      CCYC's second race day in the Rossberger Regatta Weekend, The Olympic Cup,
      is planned to include 3 buoy races:  Sunday, May 29, 2016.

      Created to honor Past Commodore of both CCYC and CYC, Bill Rossberger, this regatta
      weekend is a competitive way to kick off your season of racing on the Lake 
      with friends and crew.  The overall winner of the 2016 Spring Opener & The
      Olympic Cup will be inscribed on the Rossberger Trophy, which remains on display at CCYC.

      Our Spring Opener Party will be hosted Saturday, May 28, at CCYC with live music
      and cash bar. Come down to the club and enjoy great blues & dancing from 6:30pm-11pm.
  • Waukegan to Chicago Regatta
    • 2016 Waukegan to Chicago

      Date: Sunday, June 26, 2016

      There are two stages to this port-to-port race, with the Chicago to Waukegan
      leg kicking things off on Saturday, June 25. This leg is sponsored by
      the Waukegan Yacht Club. The second stage, the Waukegan to Chicago,
      concludes at CCYC.

  • Hobelman One Design
    • Chicago Corinthian Yacht Club welcomes small One Design sailboats to the Gin Hobelman Regatta, July 25th-26th. Sections are open for Lasers, Vanguard 15’s, Viper 640’s and Rhodes 19’s.

      Events include both a Saturday evening party at CCYC with cash bar, food, music, and a prize awards celebration Sunday afternoon.  The Chicago Viper 640 fleet will also host parking-lot beers for competing boats on Saturday.

      Race starts are 10 a.m. Saturday, 9 a.m. Sunday and the final race is at 2 p.m. Sunday.  Launch facilities and parking are available at Montrose Harbor.

      Join the CCYC Offshore Fleet on Sunday, August 28 for this annual buoy race regatta that dates back to 1941.  

      Race day check-in is 11am.  Race registration is open for all classes until Friday August 21.

      Join Chicago Corinthian Yacht Club and the CCYC Laser Fleet as they welcome J-70, Rhodes19, and Laser sailors from around the US and Canada for the annual Red Flannels Regatta.

      Come out for two days of world-class competitive sailing for this special group.

      A unique day of racing for Vanguard 15s, the annual CCYC Hairy Scary Regatta mixes competitive sailing with creative costumes, and an opportunity to test skills with a range of partners during the day.  

      Teams of 2v2 are mixed into a Round Robin and sail on several courses.  Team and individual prizes are awarded for skill, best costume, impressive wipe outs, and more.  Races run from 10am to 4pm, with registration opening at 8:30am.
