 OFFSHORE FLEET REPORT

     JAM 1                JAM 2               SPINNAKER 6       SPINNAKER 7

Planning for the 2008 season has begun and Offshore fleet members will have a chance to provide input at our first fleet meeting of the off-season on Monday November 5th. The bar will be open (Not an open bar!) and pizza will be ordered.
We will be sharing the club with the Rhodes 19 gang and we will meet in the part of the club that they are not using. This is a great opportunity to get your ideas for the 2008 season known as well as kick back and have a few beers.
I have been talking to some of you about the 2008 schedule and I think we havesome great ideas for weekends next year, but I need to hear from more of you, especially the Wednesday night gang. Please feel free to contact me and let me know your thoughts. Another item that is consistently mentioned is a monthly winter lecture series. I have gotten some great ideas for programs but I would like to hear more. If you have any ideas or know someone that has an interesting story (racing or cruising) that they would like to share, please let me know.

NEXT MEETING
Monday November 5, 2007
7:00 PM
I will have a first draft of the 2008 schedule for review.

Here is a quick break down of our weekend racing program for the Offshore Fleet.

Weekend Series (Saturdays) Every ones welcome

2 Series, A&B 5 races each, trophies for top 3 places in each series.

This series of races is meant for family and friends to come out and have fun and relax while trying to do your best to beat the other guy. In other words it’s very laid back racing. For the most part we pick a course (for example  - 4 Red = 8.1 miles – Start, SE2, Finish) Racing starts at 12:55 and on average it takes a couple of hours to complete. So lets make it worthwhile for the Race Committee to be out there. I’d like to average 12 boats this season.

 Commodores Cup (Sundays) Everyone’s welcome

6 races trophies for the top 3 places

This series is windward leeward and is just a little more serious then the weekend series but just as laid back. This series is raced on WL2 or WL4 utilizing drop marks and starts at 12:55pm and also takes just a couple of hours to complete. I’d like to average 10 boats this season.

If you have a boat on your dock that is a good candidate for racing please make the effort to speak to the skipper and see if he or she is interested in racing. Or give me the boat name and I will keep and eye out for the skipper.

Remember that your crew is also more than welcome to join us for the Offshore Fleet meetings. We also order pizza that is free.

Offshore Fleet Captain
