Offshore Fleet

The Offshore Fleet at CCYC is an active, friendly group of sailors with over 70 member boats ranging in length from 20-to-50 feet. This includes a wide variety of skill levels, from beginners to national champions, and the fleet welcomes all keel boats regardless of age. The fleet is committed to providing high-quality club racing within the unique experience of competitive sailing on Lake Michigan.

There is a full range of race and regatta events, including Wednesday night beer can racing,  the Wednesday Pursuit Series with staggered start times based on PHRF handicap,   Chicago Area Sail Racing Association (CASRA) Buoy, Distance and Casual racing, and weekend club racing. The inclusion of both one-design and Performance Handicap Racing Fleet (PHRF) boats, a variety of courses, and close quarter competition ensures a lot of action, excitement, and fun, all while learning to sail with a boatload of new friends.

Most importantly, new skippers and crew receive an abundance of guidance as well as support from current fleet members. The frequent social gatherings also enhance rapport within the fleet. So come out and sail with one of the largest PHRF fleets in the Chicago area, or just come crew and try it out!
